Car Auction FAQs

  1. What is a public auto auction?

A public auto auction is an event where various vehicles are offered for sale in a live, open to anyone, competitive bidding market, where the highest bidder usually buys the vehicle. Participants can include individual buyers, dealers, and other entities. Carriage Trade holds weekly car auctions every Monday, allowing the public to purchase vehicles at wholesale prices.

  2. How do I register for a Carriage Trade Public Auto Auction?

Registration must be done in person in the auction office. Membership costs $30 and is good for one year from the date of purchase. Once you have a membership you can get a bidder’s badge which allows you to participate in that day’s auction. You must obtain a new bidder’s badge for each auction. No bidder badges will be issued once the auction begins on Monday at 3 p.m.

  3. Are auctions open to dealerships as well as private buyers?

Yes, Carriage Trade Public Auto Auction is open to both individual buyers and dealerships. Dealers can even register online for access to our online auction website, enabling them to bid on cars from anywhere in the world.

  4. Can I sell my vehicle through Carriage Trade Public Auto Auction?

Absolutely! We're not just for buying -- we also accept pre-owned vehicles from individuals and dealerships looking to sell. Give us the title and the keys, and we'll take care of the rest. We also offer vehicle pickup with our carrier trucks if needed.

  5. What costs are associated with selling a vehicle at auction?

Carriage Trade has one of, if not the lowest seller’s fee in the auction business. It is significantly lower than many other auto auctions that typically charge hundreds of dollars in selling fees. Please visit our fee tables under the Sell A Car Tab of our website.

  6. Can I bid on cars online?

Dealers who have registered with us can log onto our auction website and bid on vehicles during live events from anywhere in the world. Individuals are able to bid online only during the government auctions, which are held once per month.

  7. How often are auto auctions held at Carriage Trade Public Auto Auction?

We hold our public auto auctions every Monday at 3 p.m., providing regular opportunities for buyers and sellers alike to participate.

  8. What should I bring with me when attending an auto auction?

Be sure you have a valid form of identification (such as a driver's license), the necessary funds or approved financing available, and any other documents required for registration.
